About a few centimeters a year, each continent continues to move on the surface of the earth.年に数センチメートル程度、各大陸は地球の表面を移動し続けている。

Going back in time, it is said that about 250 million years ago, there was one huge continent called Pangea.時間をさかのぼると、約2.5億年前には、パンゲア大陸という1つの巨大な大陸が存在していたと言われる。

Columbus sailed across the Atlantic Ocean, discovering a continent that was previously unknown in the West.コロンブスは大西洋を船で渡り、それまで西洋では未知だった大陸を発見した。

Dick Bass first achieved the highest peaks on seven continents.ディック・バスは、最初に七つの大陸の最高峰の登頂を成し遂げた。

Even if no name remains, the pirates would have planned to own the Seven Seas.名前は残っていなくても、海賊たちは七つの海を所有することを企んだろう。

Also, some empires tried to rule seven continents. However, it was not possible to unify the world by force.また、いくつかの帝国は七つの大陸を支配しょうとした。しかし、武力で世界を統一することはできなかった。

Nowadays, the things that have almost unified the world are the monetary economy, the Internet, environmental destruction, the culture of wearing masks, and so on.現在、世界をほぼ統一したものは、貨幣経済、インターネット、環境破壊、マスクをつける文化…などが考えられる。

And as a culture, “conflict” may be included there.そして、文化として「対立」もそこに含まれるかもしれない。

I think there has always been a “conflict” in the history of mankind, which was born more than 200 million years after the Pangea era.パンゲア大陸の時代から2億年以上後に誕生した人類の歴史において、「対立」が常にあったように思う。

Only, “conflict” may be appreciated for the progress of human civilization.唯一、「対立」によって、人類の文明が進歩した側面だけは評価できるかもしれない。

At the same time, there is no doubt that “anxiety” and “sadness” have increased accordingly.同時に、その分「不安」や「悲しみ」を増大させたことも間違いないだろう。

Now, about 250 million years from now, it is expected that the continents of the world will merge again and become one huge Amasia continent.さて、今から約2.5億年後には、再び世界の大陸は合併し、1つの巨大なアメイジア大陸になると予想されている。

It’s a daunting future story, but by that time humanity will be geographically united.気の遠くなるほどの未来の話ではあるが、その頃には、人類は地理的に1つにまとまるだろう。

However, there are two concerns.しかし、心配なことが2つある。

First.1つ目。

By that time, can humanity be psychologically united?その頃までに、人類は、心理的にも1つにまとまることができるだろうか。

Second.2つ目。

Can human civilization survive environmental destruction, food crises, and meteorite impacts?人類の文明は、環境破壊や食料危機、隕石衝突を生き延びることができているだろうか。

I hope that “conflict” will disappear and “fraternity” will unify the world.「対立」がなくなり、「友愛」が世界を統一することを願う。
