ペットボトルのキャップ集めに夢中にならず、直接に募金をした方が、確実に困っている子どもたちに善意を届けられただろう。It would have been better to raise money directly instead of being absorbed in collecting PET bottle caps, which would surely deliver good intentions to children in need.

近頃、インターネット広告で「あなたの毎月数百円の寄付が…」という案内が届くことがある。「貧困に苦しむ世界の子どもたちのために役に立とう」という心を刺激するが… Recently, I sometimes receive an advertisement on the Internet saying “Your donation of several hundred yen every month …”. It stimulates the spirit of “helping children in the world suffering from poverty” …

募金や寄付行為は、それが確実に相手に届いたかを確認する必要がある。そうでなければ、騙されたことに気づかぬままの「自己満足」でしかない。When raising funds or donating, it is necessary to confirm that they have reached the other party. Otherwise, it’s just “self-satisfaction” without realizing that you have been deceived.
