No.209: 60 decimal system

With My-number-card, Benefits of ¥100,000 can be obtained quickly. Howerer, in the following cases you take much time: (1) not good at internet-application. (2) forget 4 types of password. Then l looked up at the clock to save money and wait for the benefits.

Since Egyptian and Sumerian civilizations. The Clock is 60 minutes per hour, but in the Indian civilization 10 decimal numbers were developed by the invention of zero. Modern civilization has a mixture of those two decimal number systems.

Japanese is also a mixture of various words, and the front of japanese Bill is various people, Hukuzawa, Noguchi and Higuchi. Recently, New faces of Bill will be changed to Sibusawa, Tsuda and Kitasato. more people are using electric Money such as PayPay and Suica. After a while, we might forget which who is the face of which bill. Imagine these things. I have a good idea.

COVID-19 crisis urges us to change some life styles: September admission system, working system at home, internet conference system, no approval system for stamping a seal, etc. At the same time , why not unify the decimal number system?

In particular, stop decimal numbers and change every thing to 60. Then, the new 100 yen can be exchanged for the current 60 yen. The 100,000 yen of the benefits are , 100,000 * 100 / 60 = about 166,666 yen. (Something is wrong with my calculation??)

100,000 is three places higher than 100, so…. 60 *60(1) *60(2) *60(3) = 12960,000 yen.

What a surprise! It’s makes a huge huge difference whether you get the benefit from Yukichi or Eiichi. But with electronic money … That would result in super hyper-inflation.

I am confused by the new bill and the current bill. After all, I , not good at math, think the decimal system is good. Furthermore, Electronic money, which doesn’t need to be calculated just by listening to the cashier’s sound “pee!”, doesn’t hove to worry about that.

Imagining this, l heard a voice from somewhere.

“Continue working until retirement without thinking such as that!”

Whose voice was it?
